Job summary

Kabam Games, Inc. in Vancouver is seeking a Lead Producer to oversee the Production department across franchises, serving as the primary people manager for Producers and ensuring live-service projects stay on time and within budget.

You will partner with studio leadership to shape organizational design, monitor morale, and drive KPIs, while mentoring staff and guiding career development in a fast-moving, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of project management and operations leadership experience in live-service games.
  • 5+ years of Jira and Confluence expertise.
  • 3+ years leading development on multi-platform live-service environments.
  • Proven experience managing and developing a team of Producers or PMs at scale.
  • Deep understanding of live-service business models and live ops strategy.
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and large budgets.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Production department across franchises and mentor Producers.
  • Partner with studio leadership to deliver high-quality live-service results on time and within budget.
  • Monitor department morale and address staffing, organizational design, and performance needs.

Lead Producer is responsible for managing the Production department across one or more franchises, serving as the primary people manager and organizational lead for Producers within their scope. They receive assignments in the form of objectives for the Production department and are accountable for the health, performance, and career development of their direct reports. The Lead Producer serves project-focused Producers with support, representation, and a voice with other departments and studios, while partnering with studio leadership to ensure the team has the organizational structure and processes needed to deliver high-quality live service results on time and within budget - consistent with the expectations of senior development management leaders at Kabam and similar live-first live-service studios.

This role is a full-time, on-site position based 5 days a week at our Downtown Vancouver studio.

In this role, you can expect to:
Key Accountabilities:
  • Manages the Producer department across assigned franchises; receives assignments in the form of objectives and facilitates career management for direct reports.
  • Serves project-focused Producers with support, representation, and voice with other departments and studios.
  • Partners with studio leadership to ensure the team has the best organizational structure and processes to deliver high-quality results on time and within budget.
  • Monitors department morale and lends support; intervenes when necessary to resolve conflicts around staffing, morale, and organizational design.
  • Works with business leadership to develop organizational design goals and budgets.
  • Collaborates with studio leadership on studio KPIs concerning the Producer department.
  • Manages careers and performance of Producers franchise-wide within 1 business unit.
  • Interacts primarily with cross-project leadership groups across multiple projects; facilitates meetings and action items.
  • Contributes to annual reviews and compensation planning; has hiring and performance management responsibility for Producers.
  • Accountable for department capacity and health.
  • Regularly participates in 1:1s with employees, as well as in staffing, recruitment, onboarding, and performance review processes throughout the year.
Leadership:
  • Leads by example; comfortable with ambiguity in fast-moving live-service environments.
  • Establishes and drives team vision and goals in alignment with the organization's overall strategic direction.
  • Builds accountability, cohesiveness, and supportiveness within the team.
  • Fosters a growth mindset; encourages continuous learning through training, mentorship, feedback, and coaching.
  • Cultivates a safe environment for healthy disagreement and expeditious conflict resolution.
  • Drives quality and integrity of the Producer discipline; facilitates staff development programs.
To be successful in this role, your background includes:
  • 12+ years of project management and operations leadership experience; live-service game industry strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years of Jira and Confluence expertise.
  • 3+ years of recent experience leading development on multi-platform environments in a live-service context.
  • Proven experience managing and developing a team of Producers or project managers at scale.
  • Deep understanding of live-service business models and live ops strategy.
  • Experience managing large projects or multiple concurrent live-service products using Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Experience building resource plans and managing budgets at scale.
  • Superb verbal and written communication skills with a proven track record communicating effectively at all levels.

$120,000 - $150,000 a year

The typical hiring range listed above is specific to candidates located in Vancouver. The salary will be determined based on your knowledge, skills and competencies, and you’ll have room to grow after you join!
