Job summary

Davie, Canada's leading shipyard, seeks a Lead Procurement Specialist to drive alignment between Engineering and Procurement across shipbuilding projects. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Mechanical, Electrical, or Naval Architecture).
  • Minimum of five years' experience in the marine engineering industry.
  • PMP certification would be considered an asset.
  • Fluent in English; business-level French required.

Responsibilities

  • Support supplier selection, RFQ/RFP processes, and the evaluation of proposals.
  • Ensure procurement decisions are informed by technical requirements and associated risks.
  • Review and validate technical specifications, drawings, and material requirements.
  • Ensure alignment between engineering design intent and available market capabilities.
  • Work closely with project teams to ensure procurement readiness and timely delivery of materials.
  • Manage engineering changes in collaboration with the Procurement Department and suppliers.

Job description

As the Lead Procurement Specialist, you will serve as the critical liaison between the Engineering and Procurement Departments, ensuring seamless collaboration across technical and commercial functions. This role is responsible for aligning design requirements with sourcing strategies, optimizing cost, quality, and delivery, and enabling efficient project execution from concept development through procurement and manufacturing. More specifically you will:

  • Act as the primary interface between the Engineering, Procurement, and Supply Chain Department, as well as key stakeholders.

  • Ensure compliance with the Corporate Management System (CMS), safety regulations, and best practices.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Naval Architecture).
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience in the marine engineering industry, with technical knowledge of all stages of ship design.
  • PMP certification would be considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with the rules and regulations of classification societies and flag states.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to complete multiple, complex, detail-oriented tasks and projects on time.
  • Proficiency in French and English (written and spoken). Fluency in English is required for this position, as you will interact with English-speaking suppliers, stakeholders or clients.
