Job description

The Endoscopy Center Lead Processing Technician is a designated leader responsible for maintaining the operations of the processing room and ensuring adherence to infection control protocols by all staff. The Lead Tech handles leak testing, manual cleaning, and high-level disinfecting of endoscopic equipment according to established guidelines. They are also responsible for documenting all reprocessing logs and collaborating with leadership to address scope damages or equipment challenges.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide daily direction and oversight to processing staff and operations.
  2. Coordinate coverage across multiple sites in collaboration with other Lead Techs and leadership.
  3. Orient new Processing Techs and provide constructive feedback to staff involved in scope and equipment handling.
  4. Monitor adherence to standards of practice and provide immediate feedback.
  5. Participate in staff performance assessments and contribute to performance reviews.
  6. Recommend process improvements to leadership.
  7. Proactively address issues impacting cleaning, equipment tracking, and best practices, and escalate as needed.
  8. Collaborate with leadership and educators to maintain standards and compliance.
  9. Ensure readiness for Joint Commission inspections by maintaining records and environment standards.
  10. Perform all processing duties, including leak testing, manual cleaning, high-level disinfection, sterilization, and equipment maintenance, following established guidelines.
  11. Monitor disinfectant effectiveness, document loads, and manage repairs and maintenance of equipment.
  12. Maintain proper records and ensure a clean, disinfected work environment.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 2-4 years of experience as an endoscope technician or central supply technician (Leadership experience preferred)
  • Adherence to all I C.A.R.E. Standards
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating in English
