Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Principal Architect to lead post-secondary education projects in Alberta, from concept through close-out, ensuring fiscally responsible solutions and design excellence. You will guide teams, participate in business development, and ensure client satisfaction while maintaining collaboration across disciplines.

You will mentor staff, oversee complex design challenges, and uphold high standards for documentation, code compliance, and project delivery in a hybrid working

Qualifications

• This position requires a professional Architecture degree (Bachelor’s or Masters).
• Registered Architect (or ability via interprovincial reciprocity) in Alberta.
• Minimum of 15 years of professional experience, leading projects and developing business.
• Experience providing consulting services to Higher Education / Post-Secondary clients is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Advocate and inspire creativity, critical thought and design excellence both internally and externally.
• Ensure the overall design intent is incorporated into detailed documentation.
• Monitor design process from concept to construction administration and maintain consistency of design.
• Lead coordination with other disciplines, vendors, and contractors to meet project requirements.
• Take active role in producing project deliverables and meeting client expectations.
• Meet with clients and conduct presentations; support Business Development activities.
• Assist in recruitment and growth of design staff; foster collaboration across offices.
• Mentor junior staff and interns to grow their careers and design capabilities.
• Evaluate design quality and ensure high standards across the firm.
• Develop and implement the firm’s branding and marketing collateral.
