Job description

Position Overview: Lead Oversight Engineer

The selected candidate will provide high-level engineering oversight across all phases of the project—ensuring alignment with regulatory, corporate, and project-specific standards while coordinating with multiple Engineering Contractors. This role will also act as the technical authority on design decisions and integration of concurrent scopes.

Location: Office-based with regular travel (~25%) to Aitken Creek Gas Storage Facility and engineering contractor offices.

Project Scope
  1. New Plant (Capacity Addition):
    • Design and construction of a 300 MMSCFD Refrigeration Plant
    • Four (4) new storage wells + one (1) observation well
    • Pipeline construction connecting wells to the plant
  2. Optimization of Existing Plant:
    • Header piping replacement and compressor upgrades
    • Full plant automation upgrade (DCS to PLC)
    • Custody measurement and utility infrastructure upgrades
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead engineering oversight for both new and existing facilities
  • Manage technical interfaces across multiple Engineering Contractors
  • Drive integration across scopes and ensure alignment on cost, schedule, and quality
  • Support construction and commissioning through effective collaboration
  • Act as escalation point for complex engineering decisions
  • Ensure robust change and risk management throughout design and execution
  • Represent the project in internal/external engineering reviews
Qualifications

Must-Have:

  • 15+ years in gas processing facility design and execution
  • Proven experience on large, complex energy infrastructure projects
  • Deep knowledge of process, mechanical, instrumentation, automation, and utility systems
  • Experience managing concurrent engineering scopes and contractors
  • Registered P.Eng. or P.Tech.Eng. in Canada

Preferred:

  • Brownfield optimization project experience
  • Familiarity with pipeline interface and full project lifecycle (FEL, detailed design, construction support)
