Job description

The role requires producing high-quality, cost-effective, detailed 3D designs and general arrangement drawings. The designer will work under the supervision of the Principal Designer, Lead Discipline Design Engineer, or the Project Lead Engineer.

Lycopodium is currently recruiting for a Lead Mechanical Designer to join our growing Design and Drafting team in Mississauga, ON.

Responsibilities

1. Proficient in all aspects of 3D MicroStation software (and preferably OpenBuildings Designer - OBD) and able to apply these skills within Lycopodium's CAD procedures.
2. Supervise up to three subordinate personnel.
3. Layout and detail materials handling and mine plant design within your discipline.
4. Produce design drawings that follow industry standards and comply with Lycopodium's drawing office and CAD procedures.
5. Work effectively in a team environment with good communication and interpersonal skills.
6. Produce design drawings within project budget hours and for the specified deliverables.
7. Understand fabrication and construction techniques.
8. Commit to ongoing professional development.
9. Review and check design drawings as required.

Qualifications and Skills

1. Proficiency in Bentley MicroStation software.
2. Diploma qualification in Engineering Design Drafting or equivalent industry experience of 15 years.
3. Ability to deliver designs on time and with high accuracy and professionalism.
4. Experience managing a drafting team to meet budget and milestone targets.
5. Strong technical knowledge of mineral processing designs and technologies.
6. Broad understanding of minerals processing engineering.
7. Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
8. Experience with proprietary engineering software.
9. Excellent English language and report writing skills.
10. Teamwork and interpersonal skills.
11. Dedication to professional growth.
