Worley Canada Construction leads in industrial construction across Alberta and western Canada. Our team works on fabrication, modularization, field installation, and professional support services for challenging heavy-oil facilities, gas plants, power stations, and other industrial projects.

We are seeking a Lead Material Handler to join our project team at a site in Northern Alberta.

Work Conditions:

  • This position is based at a site near (insert Location).
  • Camp accommodations near the site; flights from Calgary or Edmonton provided (Fly-in, Fly-out).
  • (insert shift) shift rotation.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • Work is primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions (rain/cold weather gear not provided).
  • Must be able to lift 44 lbs, stand, work upright, and kneel for extended periods.

Responsibilities:

  • Receiving materials physically and inspecting for shortages or damage.
  • Completing load assessment forms.
  • Sourcing materials and creating pick sheets requested by the construction team.
  • Coordinating material arrivals, offloading, and placement, including directing to laydown/jack and roll zones.
  • Managing material movement across the site as directed by site management.
  • Working with truckers to ensure gate passes are completed and escorting trucks safely to laydown areas.
  • Spotting load removal from trucks and inspecting loads before gate entry.
  • Organizing materials in laydown and storage areas.
  • Identifying OSDs and completing documentation.
  • Issuing OS&D reports and resolving issues.
  • Driving into town to pick up items as needed.

Note: This role involves physical outdoor work in various weather conditions.

Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of experience in a construction material receiving role.
  • Experience with packing lists and related activities.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license, CSTS2020 Fundamentals ticket, and WHMIS 2015 certification.
  • Formal material management training is an asset.
  • Previous experience in the domestic oil and gas construction industry is preferred.
  • Rigging experience is an asset.
