Job description

You will be reporting to Mine Superintendent, and you will be part of the Mine Planning Department. You will also ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

  • Work within Mine Planning Department utilizing Deswik Software (CAD, IS, UGDB etc)
  • Supervising a team of Drill & Blast Planners / Engineers and overseeing the stope design process and subsequent drill and blast plans to maximize recovery and minimise dilution
  • Review and approve mine planning outputs such as stope designs, blast instructions, backfill layouts, service hole designs and drill packages
  • Working with internal & external teams to innovate and improve drill & blast practices
  • Exploring new ways to increase drill and blast productivity
  • Undertake stope performance assessments for each stope and back analyse to ensure continuous improvement in drilling and blasting plans, designs and controls
  • Regular underground visits and inspections
  • Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering
  • Working knowledge of mine design and scheduling software (Deswik, AutoCAD, Amine etc.)
  • Continuous improvement abilities
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint

Your Work Schedule:

  • Schedule: 4 days of work, followed by 3 days off from Tuesday to Friday, at our Macassa Mine in Kirkland Lake, ON.
