Position Summary

We are currently seeking a dedicated Lead Instructor, Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) to join our team. In this dynamic role, you will deliver engaging EMR program content through a blended model of synchronous online and in-person instruction, serving as a consistent presence to support students' academic progression and success. You will also oversee curriculum updates and learning resource revisions, ensuring the EMR program remains cutting-edge and effective. Collaborating closely with program staff and division teams, you will contribute to the consistent delivery of program objectives, provide mentorship to instructors, and address instructional challenges proactively. If you are an experienced Primary Care Paramedic with a passion for teaching, mentoring, and shaping the next generation of Emergency Medical Responders, we invite you to apply for this exciting opportunity.

Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) certification or equivalent diploma.
  • Canadian Red Cross (CRC) Professional Instructor Certification or CRC Basic Life Support Instructor certification (preferred).
  • Provincial Instructor Diploma or related post-secondary diploma/degree (asset).
  • Minimum 1 year of teaching experience at the EMR level or in a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience at the PCP level or higher.
  • Effective communication skills (oral and written) for online and in-person instruction.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities under pressure.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, Learning Management Systems (Blackboard), and relevant instructional technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong collaborative leadership and conflict resolution skills.
  • Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to maintain effective relationships with students, staff, and faculty.
  • Sound judgment and sensitivity when handling complex issues.

What JIBC Offers:

We offer a total compensation package that includes a benefit plan, which includes Extended Health and Dental Benefits after three months, and enrollment in the College Pension Plan upon hire. In addition, we offer 20 vacation days and 10 Personal Days annually (pro-rated in first year), as well as generous other leave entitlements.

Salary Range: $89,271.00 to $99,135.40 annually – Fair Comparison Faculty Equivalent Compensation Salary Grid P3

Work Arrangements: This is a full-time (35 hours per week) regular position, on-site at the Kelowna campus. Hybrid work will also be considered during times where there will be no impact on student experience.
