Job summary

Mainroad Alberta Contracting (Vermilion) LP in Wainwright, AB is seeking a Foreman to lead day-to-day highway maintenance operations and field teams. This full‑time, salaried role reports to the Superintendent and focuses on delivering the CMA contracts with strong safety and quality standards.

The ideal candidate has a long track record in highway maintenance with supervisory experience, and a post‑secondary engineering or project management credential is considered an asset.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years’ highway maintenance experience with 4+ years in supervision
• Post-secondary degree/diploma asset in engineering or related discipline
• Valid Class 3 driver’s license with air brake endorsement; Class 1 asset
• Experience supervising winter maintenance operations
• Experience with CMA contracts and interpreting contract specs
• Knowledge of road/bridge maintenance standards and safety practices
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Ability to build relationships with owners, managers, subcontractors and tradespeople

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and assign work to crews to ensure timely completion of work orders
• Pre‑plan weekly operational requirements and develop daily schedules
• Coordinate staffing coverage for illness, injury and vacations
• Supervise winter and summer field operations and scheduling
• Manage fleet and equipment availability and maintenance coordination
• Mentor staff on contract specs and safety expectations
• Conduct field quality control inspections and adjust operations as needed
• Liaise with stakeholders including municipalities, RCMP and other agencies
• Provide timely updates on highway conditions to 511 Alberta and the department
