Job Description
Key Responsibilities :
- Diagnose and repair complex modern CNG and diesel engines and advanced electrical and hydraulic systems.
- Perform repairs and preventive maintenance tasks such as PM and safety inspections.
- Complete required record keeping associated with repairing vehicles documenting parts usage and accounting for repair times.
- Review plan and schedule work as required.
- Mentor apprentice technicians and provide training to complete their apprenticeship program.
- Operate tools equipment and machinery according to company safety procedures.
- Ensure shop equipment and tools are kept in a safe operating condition.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with company safety standards.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements :
- Journeyman designation or equivalent
- Valid Drivers License
- Provide own tools and willingness to acquire tools as required for jobs.
- Red Seal is preferred but not required.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- Ability to perform CVI inspections and familiarity with transportation regulation.
- Knowledge of tools required to perform repairs and maintenance on commercial vehicles and heavy equipment.
- Ability to follow schedules instructions technical manuals and maintenance guidelines and other procedures associated with the maintenance of company fleet assets.
- Experience using diagnostic software is preferred. Must be computer literate and willing and able to be trained in software systems.
- Ability to communicate effectively across various levels of the organization and communicate with customers and external vendors.
- Ability to be a self-starter capable of working effectively in a team environment or as an individual contributor.
- Excellent attention to detail problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Working Conditions
The Technician must be able to work inside and / or outside in all different weather conditions including extreme cold and extreme heat.
Physical Demands
Physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job :
- Moderate walking standing climbing heavy lifting carrying stooping bending kneeling reaching grasping / gripping and pushing / pulling.
- Work utilizing personal protective equipment including hearing protection safety-toed boot utility gloves reflective vest hearing and eye protection hard hat etc.
- Work outside and inside around moving objects vehicles and machinery with moving parts.
- Physically able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and push / pull up to 100 pounds.
