Job summary

Musashi AI North America, Inc. seeks a Lead Hardware Engineer – Electrical & Embedded Systems in Waterloo, Ontario.

You will lead a cross-functional team across Controls, Electrical, Mechanical, and Optical Engineers, focusing on electrical design, embedded software, and system integration for AI-enabled inspection hardware. The role balances hands-on engineering (≈70%) with leadership (≈30%), covering from concept to commissioning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Engineering Technology (Electrical, Electronics, or Mechatronics preferred).
• 8+ years of engineering & design experience.
• Proven experience leading technical teams in fast-paced environments.
• Experience with electrical/electronic design from schematics to PCB and panel layouts.
• Proficient in embedded software and controls using Python and C.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a cross-functional team of Controls, Electrical, Mechanical, and Optical Engineers.
• Plan and prioritize projects, define scope, timelines, and resources.
• Prepare electrical schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams using AutoCAD/Draftsight.
• Design, build, test, and commission electrical panels and PCB assemblies; verify power distribution and safety circuits.
• Collaborate with AI software and hardware teams to integrate systems for AI-enabled inspection hardware.
• Travel to customer sites for installation and commissioning as needed.
