The Structural Lead Hand Foreperson will lead forepersons and construction crews on various projects, ensuring safety, quality, and productivity. Responsibilities include promoting a Safety-First culture, overseeing daily activities, managing schedules, ensuring compliance with BCMoT standards, and reporting project progress. Strong leadership, interpersonal skills, and the ability to make independent decisions in a fast-paced environment are essential. Flexibility in work location and reliable transportation are required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Promote and execute a Safety-First culture for all employees, sub-contractors, and consultants.
  • Supervise field operations, including bridge construction, directing workers, inspection, and coordination.
  • Develop safe work plans, hazard assessments, FLRAs, and mentor crews.
  • Lead safety meetings and inspections.
  • Report project, quality, resource, and relations updates to the Superintendent.
  • Ensure compliance of carpenters and laborers with project policies and procedures.
  • Drive quality, efficiency, and productivity of crews.
  • Manage productivity issues and work performance, overcoming challenges.
  • Follow project plans and budgets, meeting production goals.
  • Understand scope and sequencing, support planning, and minimize downtime.
  • Contribute to construction planning.
  • Supervise multiple crews and subcontractors.
  • Plan materials, equipment, and work schedules.
  • Review project plans and specifications for setup.
  • Document activities and resolve design issues.
  • Order and coordinate equipment and materials.
Qualifications
  • Ability to travel to multiple work sites.
  • 8+ years supervisory experience in construction, with bridge construction expertise.
  • Understanding of engineering drawings, documents, and site plans.
  • Knowledge of bridge construction methods, materials, and equipment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for team communication.
  • Flexibility to work in the field and office, with reliable transportation.
  • Proficiency in construction software and project management tools.
  • Knowledge of BCMoT standards and safety regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
