Pay Scale Group: USW Pay Band 6
Department:Hospitality Services
Pay Rate: Probationary $27.86 – After 480 Hours $30.08 – After 2080 Hours $33.69
Type of Appointment: Term (8 months)
Work Schedule: Part-time – 24 hours per week. Monday to Thursday, 3:30 pm-10:00 pm.

Purpose

Under the general supervision of Food Service Manager on duty, the incumbent works with and instructs a group of Food Service employees, ensuring customer satisfaction for Victoria University. The incumbent performs customer service duties, food preparation, food service, dishwashing, and stocking in various operations and event locations throughout Victoria University.

Qualifications

Education: A diploma in Hospitality and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience: Food Services experience, preferably in a unionized environment. Knowledge of current food service industry trends.

Other: Ability to maintain co-operative working relationships with staff and customers. Tact in dealing with people and ability to lead. Ability to communicate effectively in English (oral and written). Physical ability to perform duties described and to use indicated equipment. Has knowledge of current Food Service industry trends. WHMIS, Smart Serve, Basic First Aid, Food Safety program training an asset. Computer skills; word, excel, outlook, online ordering

Duties
Customer Service & Functions
  • Deals with customer concerns/complaints with tact, good judgment, and discretion.
  • Supervises functions as required, ensuring function sheets are clearly communicated to staff.
  • Anticipates and coordinates set-up requirements for catered functions, including the timely delivery and set-up of required supplies, equipment and food, and ensures proper clean-up following each function.
Staff Coordination
  • Assists the Manager on duty with assigning staff according to workload.
  • Inspects the work of the group and directs corrections as needed.
Food Service Operations
  • Prepares, portions, packages and serves food and beverages in accordance with established recipes, procedures and food quality standards.
  • Monitors food quality, portion control, safe food handling and production levels, making routine adjustments as required.
  • Provides food and beverage service in dining, retail and catered service environments.
  • Performs point-of-sale, cash handling and related transaction duties in accordance with established procedures.
  • Orders, receives and stores food, beverages and supplies, and maintains appropriate stock levels.
  • Monitors the cleanliness, organization and general condition of food service and customer areas and completes required facility checks
  • Ensures routine cleaning, sanitizing, waste disposal and recycling procedures are followed.
  • Maintains required operational records, signage, menus, food labels and other customer-facing information.
