Job description

Under general supervision, acts as a leader of a group of Cafeteria workers, operates a cash register, receives and issues cash, and orders and maintains inventory of specific food items.

Typical Duties

The following illustrative tasks indicate the level of skill required and the extent of the responsibility involved in this position. They in no way limit the incumbent to the tasks indicated.

The flexibility of the employee to perform a wide variety of functions is necessary for successfully fulfilling the requirements of this position. The degree to which each employee performs each of the following tasks listed below will vary according to where and when the employee is scheduled to work.

Inspects the work of the group and directs corrections as needed;

Reports attendance and performance of the group;

Receives instructions and interprets them to the members of the group;

Identifies and reports defective equipment and supplies;

Orders and maintains inventory of specific food items daily;

May perform the duties of a Cafeteria Worker; and

Other related duties as required.

Minimum Requirements for Selection

Education : Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.

Experience : Three years of related experience.

Other : Ability to lead, handle figures rapidly, communicate effectively in written and spoken English, possess public relations skills (courtesy and tact), and complete a University of Toronto server training program if required. Successful completion of food safety training is also required.
