Explore your next role:
The Lead Hand, Accessory Shop will report to the Supervisor, Accessory Shop, and will be responsible for supervising a team and directing the project flow. This position requires extensive knowledge of components, and the ability to troubleshoot in the areas of Mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
Perform Job Duties
- Ability to perform the requirements of the Level of SCA held
- Manage projects within the Accessory Shop as directed by Shop Supervisor.
- Responsible to ensure Accessory Shop Staff follow Voyageurs Policy and Procedures.
- Responsible for evaluating the quality of Accessory Shop Staff work and ensuring they are following all applicable safety policies.
- Responsible to ensure that all Accessory Shop Staff paperwork is up to date and accurate and maintain integrity of all issued documents.
- Responsible to ensure work environment is safe, clean and maintain work area and equipment in a clean and in orderly condition.
Communicate project requirements to Accessory Shop Staff
- Manage projects within the Accessory Shop as directed by Shop Supervisor.
- Assign and schedule tasks to the Accessory Shop Staff based on skill set and ability.
- Responsible to ensure Accessory Shop Staff are working productively throughout the duration of the shift.
- Provider technical assistance to all Accessory Shop Staff
- Responsible to ensure Accessory Shop Staff are billing time to projects appropriately and that all time is accounted for.
- Responsible to ensure Accessory Shop Staff follow Voyageurs Policy and Procedures.
- Provide input into performance reviews, and corrective progressive discipline.
- Manage department projects in absence of the supervisor
Team Support
- Support Supervisor in managing personal issues of staff or between staff to the extent required to ensure staff are productive and a safe work environment.
- Assist the Accessory Shop Staff in areas that require additional Training and Mentoring.
- Involved in and supportive of, disciplinary actions brought about by Supervisor.
- Promote a Safe, productive, positive work environment.
- Communicates the daily issues, requirements, and staffing issues that will affect production, or work environment with Supervisor.
- Maintain professionalism when interacting with others.
Your Distinctive Ingredients for Success:
- Trades Certificate in a mechanical field considered an asset.
- Prior experience as an Accessory Shop SCA
- Ability to follow written and verbal directions with strong attention to detail.
- Reliable, responsible, and self-motivated with demonstrated problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Demonstrated organizational and planning skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure with tight deadlines.
- Competent with Office 365 (Excel).
