GFX Solutions Ltd. in Oakville, Ontario, is seeking a Lead Hand to supervise and coordinate a production cell on the Days Shift.

You will back up the Shift Supervisor, ensure prints match jobs, maintain housekeeping, and enforce safety and quality standards on the floor. The ideal candidate has extensive manufacturing experience, knowledge of IATF 16949, blueprint reading, and familiarity with EPICOR; strong teamwork and communication are essential.

• Proficient blueprint reading and teamwork skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Back up for Shift Supervisor when absent and assist in duties.
• Ensure correct prints align with jobs issued on the floor.
• Maintain general housekeeping and adherence to safety policies.
• Enforce rules per Employee Handbook and OSHA/ MOL regulations.
• Supervise cells, troubleshoot setup and improve operator efficiency.
• Ensure work orders are followed in each cell.

Who You Are:

Ground Effects is currently searching for Lead Hand to join our Operations team in Oakville , Ontario.

In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing and direction of your assigned team, while ensuring production requirements are met. Lead Hands act as intermediaries between supervisors and employees, including being a backup for the shift supervisor in the event of an absence, as well as ensuring employees are following their assigned duties.

What You Can ExpectFromthe Role:

The responsibilities of the Lead Hand team member are as follows:

• Back up for Shift Supervisor when absent, including all responsibilities as outlined in the Supervisor Job Position Record.
• Ensure that correct prints are following jobs issued on the floor.
• Ensure that general housekeeping practices are adhered to.
• Ensure that employees are following all rules and codes of conduct established in the EmployeeHandbook.
• Ensure that the O.H.S.A and internal safe operating principals are in place and adhered to.
• Comply with the provisions of the O.H.S.A and Regulations and take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of the worker.
• Comply with any orders and requirements of inspectors, directors, and other agents from the M.O.L.
• Acquaint a worker and supervise with any hazard present in the workplace and provide information, instruction and competent supervision for workers.
• Be visible, assume leadership, and assist in developing and initiating an effective health and safety attitude.
• Participate and initiate in continuous safety training.
• Ensure that all new personnel have received appropriate training on their job so that they are aware of Safety requirements and proper job procedures.
• Perform and assist with cell set ups when needed and ensure the setup verification check sheets are filled out properly.
• Ensure cells are set up safely and efficiently. Responsible for cell trouble shooting.
• Investigate ways to improve operator efficiency.
• Ensure that work orders are being adhered to in each cell.
• Adhere to company housekeeping policies including all 5S initiatives.
• Other duties as assigned by the Shift Supervisor.

WhatQualificationsand SkillsDo You Possess?

• Must have extensive experience in the manufacturing department
• Must be familiar with IATF 16949 requirements and Health and Safety legislative requirement
• Must have blueprint reading knowledge
• Must be team oriented, excellent communication skills and strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with employees.
• Must have excellent organizational skills
• Knowledge and application of EPICOR system. Additional computer skills an asset.
• Minimum of Grade 12 required, more education is considered an asset.
