Job summary

WSP invites a Lead Geotechnical Engineer to lead design and analysis for major infrastructure projects in British Columbia, delivering safe and robust solutions. You will work with multidisciplinary teams across public and private sectors to drive technical excellence and project success.

You will mentor junior engineers, advance soil-structure interaction studies, and apply innovative geotechnical practices in a collaborative, client-focused environment that values growth and impact.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil/Geotechnical engineering is required.
  • 12+ years of consulting experience in geotechnical engineering and project leadership.
  • P.Eng. designation in British Columbia or eligibility for registration.
  • Strong client engagement, business development, and revenue growth.
  • Knowledge of deep foundations, slope stability, earthquake engineering, retaining walls, and related geotechnical topics.
  • Valid BC driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Lead geotechnical design and analysis for major infrastructure projects, including transportation, energy, civil infrastructure, and urban development.
  • Deliver advanced soil-structure interaction studies and foundation engineering solutions for safety and resilience.
  • Collaborate with project managers, interdisciplinary teams, and clients to meet technical, environmental, and financial objectives.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering technical excellence and continuous learning.
  • Drive innovation in geotechnical practices, integrating new technologies and sustainability into project delivery.

As a Lead Geotechnical Engineer , you will provide technical leadership and strategic guidance for complex engineering projects across British Columbia. You’ll work closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative for public and private sector.

  • Drive innovation in geotechnical practices, integrating cutting-edge technologies and sustainability principles into project delivery.
The Skills that Set You Apart
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Geological, or Geotechnical Engineering (Masters or PhD preferred).
  • 12+ years of consulting experience in geotechnical engineering and project leadership.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in British Columbia (or eligibility for registration).
  • Demonstrated success in client engagement, business development, and revenue growth
  • Technical knowledge of geotechnical engineering, including: design of deep foundations, shallow foundations, evaluating slope stability, earthquake engineering, retaining wall design, earth retention, settlement of compressible soils, ground improvement techniques, support of excavation, dewatering etc.
  • Valid BC driver’s license.

Compensation

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $122,900 – $162,800

MB & ON: $112,100 – $154,400

NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $111,000 – $147,400
