We pair our award-winning culture and comprehensive benefits with an agile startup mentality to give our team stability in an engaging environment. Come work with us to build happier, more efficient teams!

Sensei Labs is seeking a Lead Frontend Engineer. As a core member of an Agile team, your primary focus will be on developing new features that directly impact our product's functionality. In this role, you’ll also serve as a key technical leader, advancing the front-end technology stack, optimizing performance, and enhancing developer workflows. Your expertise in front-end frameworks, rendering techniques, and architecture will shape both the immediate feature delivery and the long-term evolution of our product, ensuring high standards of code quality and scalability across projects.

What You’ll Do

  • Leadership and Mentorship : Actively mentor and guide fellow engineers, creating opportunities for learning and growth. Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment that encourages open communication, embraces diverse perspectives, and promotes continuous improvement.
  • Architect and Implement Frontend Solutions : Design and build new frontend functionality that enhances our platform, focusing on modularity, scalability, and performance.
  • Optimize Frontend Performance : Diagnose and address performance bottlenecks, ensuring smooth and efficient operation across large-scale applications.
  • Improve Developer Experience : Implement new tools, libraries, and frameworks to improve developer productivity, simplify workflows, and increase the quality of the front-end codebase.
  • Enhance Security Measures : Ensure the frontend adheres to security best practices, protecting against common vulnerabilities such as XSS and CSRF.
  • Collaborate on System Architecture : Work with peers and major stakeholders to create and review technical designs, ensuring alignment between front-end and back-end systems.
  • Drive Frontend Standards : Advocate for and implement new technologies and approaches that optimize the efficiency and scalability of the frontend architecture.
  • Maintain High Code Quality : Regularly contribute to the front-end codebase, performing thorough code reviews to maintain high standards in code organization, simplicity, and readability.
  • Test Automation : Improve the front-end and UI testing infrastructure, ensuring robust automated testing and continuous integration pipelines for front-end deployments.
  • Enhance User Experience : Collaborate closely with product designers and other stakeholders to create front-end features that deliver a seamless user experience.
  • Scale and Optimize : Improve tooling and infrastructure for measuring and optimizing frontend performance in real-world scenarios.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in Frontend Development : 7+ years of experience as a frontend engineer or in a similar role, with a strong emphasis on technical leadership.
  • Performance and Security Focus : Proven experience in optimizing rendering performance for large-scale applications and ensuring security best practices in front-end development.
  • Cloud and API Knowledge : Solid experience with cloud-based environments and REST APIs, with a deep understanding of how front-end systems interact with back-end services.
  • Automated Testing and CI / CD : Experience in building and maintaining writing unit and integration tests and ensuring robust front-end testing practices.
  • Scalability and Modularity : Demonstrated ability to design and implement scalable frontend architectures with modular components and performance optimization techniques.
  • Proactive Problem Solver : Ability to work autonomously and make the right technical decisions to drive the business forward.

What Will Set You Apart

  • Open-Source Contributions : A history of contributing to open-source projects or supporting the broader software engineering community.
  • Advanced Knowledge : Expertise in advanced front-end topics such as Webpack configuration, tree shaking, code splitting, and state management techniques.
  • Collaboration Skills : Strong ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Cloud and Infrastructure Understanding : Familiarity with cloud services such as GCP and Azure, an understanding of how front-end performance ties into cloud infrastructure and service scalability.

  • No Email policy : At Sensei Labs, we rely on our Conductor platform and Microsoft Teams for communication. We’ve eliminated all unnecessary internal emails.

We continue to build an amazing, diverse team and inclusive culture. Our competitive advantage is rooted in our team members’ unique perspectives and experiences.
