As a Lead, Financial Reporting, the incumbent will play a crucial role in assisting the Manager, Financial Reporting to maintain the financial reporting functions of Air Canada Vacations. This includes budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and identifying risks and opportunities while ensuring financial targets are met. The role also involves analyzing cost drivers and offering recommendations to optimize financial performance.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
  • Maintain and validate all transactions in the general ledger
  • Prepare and review the month-end and year-end closing processes and ensure all financial activities are accurate and delivered in a timely manner
  • Analyze financial data and prepare financial statements, reports and forecasts for senior management
  • Analyze and explain variance explanations versus budget, outlook and prior year
  • Maintain, analyze and prepare balance sheet reconciliations
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with IFRS
  • Ensure the accuracy, completeness and timely completion of monthly financial reporting
  • Maintain, improve, and implement financial policies, procedures and internal controls and ensure compliance
  • Coordinate and assist with internal and external auditors for interim and year-end
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams internally or with subsidiaries (AC, Aeroplan, Rouge)
  • Assist with the integration of our new accounting system
  • Assist with various tax requirements and projects
  • Assist in various projects and initiatives
  • Ad hoc compliance filings such as OSFI, TICO, IATA
  • Supervise and train your direct report(s)
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in accountancy. A professional certification (CPA) is required.
  • 5+ years of experience in accounting or finance

Skills :

  • Proactive organizational and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and French
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting and analysis
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to keep a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent computer skills in general, especially Excel and PowerPoint
