About RI-MUHC

The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre in Montreal, Quebec. It is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) and is affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).

Position Summary

The Institute of Circulatory and Respiratory Health (ICRH), part of the CIHR, is based at RI-MUHC. It supports research across Canada into causes, mechanisms, prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and support systems related to heart, lung, brain (stroke), blood, blood vessels, critical care, and sleep. The institute emphasizes Indigenous health research and values equity, diversity, and inclusion. Reporting to the Scientific Director and Associate Director, the successful candidate will oversee financial and operational activities, ensuring financial health and smooth operations.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Management (40%)
  • Oversee financial processes including accounting, budgeting, and reporting
  • Analyze data, forecast needs, and recommend improvements
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and policies
  • Manage invoicing, contracts, and agreements
  • Update budgets, track spending, and financial projections
  • Provide strategic advice on investments and resource allocation
  • Prepare reports for management and stakeholders
  • Communicate performance metrics
  • Collaborate with departments for alignment
Operational Management (30%)
  • Manage daily operations, resources, and meetings
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures
  • Advise on operational efficiency
  • Ensure compliance with standards and policies
  • Support project management for awards and prizes
Strategic Planning (20%)
  • Develop strategies to support goals
  • Assess impact and environmental factors
  • Contribute to research priority planning
  • Support strategic initiatives and business planning
Additional Tasks (10%)
  • Assist with event planning
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in management, accounting, finance, or related field; Master’s preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of management experience
  • Fluent in French and English, spoken and written
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Experience in research environment is an asset
  • Ability to handle confidential info and prioritize tasks
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
Additional Information

Status: Temporary, full-time (35 hours/week)

Salary: $55,692 - $103,412.40, based on experience

Work hours: Monday to Friday, 9 am - 5 pm

Work location: Hybrid, minimum 3 days on-site
