Job summary

Integrated Power Services is seeking a Lead Field Service Technician for large motors to diagnose, repair, and return customer equipment to reliable operation. The role blends electrical and mechanical work with mentoring of junior techs on advanced skills.

You will perform vibration analysis, thermographic imaging, and electrical tests, travel to sites, and ensure safe, high-quality service while maintaining strong customer relationships.

Qualifications

  • PdMA testing experience preferred.
  • Level I Vibration Analysis preferred.
  • 4+ years of AC/DC motor experience preferred.
  • Laser shaft alignment experience preferred.
  • PLC, Instrumentation, Controls experience preferred.
  • 480V - 4160V Variable Frequency Drive troubleshooting experience preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow directions with precise execution.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, follow standardized work procedures, and apply strong analytical problem-solving dynamics in a continuous improvement environment.
  • Ability to collaborate with team members.
  • Strong customer focus with professional communication.
  • Available and willing to work flexible hours, overtime, and weekends as required, and willing to be on call.
  • Ability to perform math functions, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and understanding fractions and percentages.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to travel locally and overnight.

Responsibilities

  • Lead jobs and other service technicians in the field.
  • Represent the company in a knowledgeable and professional manner
  • Assist with developing proposals, performing job walks, and defining work scope to meet customer needs and requirements on reliability, preventative maintenance, motor change-outs, and testing of customer equipment.
  • Performs mentoring, training, and guidance to other team members in advanced electrical skills and maintenance practices
  • Assume responsibility as assigned and act on own authority accordingly.
  • Complete a field service safety checklist on every job to identify and mitigate job hazards.
  • Perform electrical tests using various portable electronic equipment including but not limited to: Megger®, PdMA MCE, Multimeter and DLRO.
  • Install/Remove AC and DC electric motors, laser align equipment, read precision measuring tools such as micrometers, replace sleeve and anti-friction bearings, set seals, air gaps, torque critical components to proper torque specs.
  • Strong problem-solving skills. Think outside the box to get the customer back online quickly and safely.
  • Ability to perform high quality work with minimal to no supervision
  • Interpret and ensure compliance with operating policies and procedures
  • Clean electro-mechanical equipment is needed using various methods including but not limited to bead blasting, ice blasting, and solvent cleaning.
  • Maintain close relationships with customers as well as the sales, marketing, field service, and service center technical teams.
  • Prepare technical reports to provide information on conditions of equipment service and recommend actions to be taken.
  • Be an effective communicator to FS Manager, FS Coordinator, and customers alike to convey scope changes, findings, actions taken, and solutions.

Responsibilities & Expectations:

We are looking for a talented Lead Field Service Technician - Large Motors who can hit the ground running. As a Lead Field Service Technician for IPS, you will possess strong troubleshooting and repair skills and provide unmatched service to our customers. You will perform vibration analysis, thermographic imaging, and various electrical tests while diagnosing and repairing units. This is a hands-on position requiring the aptitude and attitude to do whatever it takes to safely get the customers back online. The ideal candidate would have a good blend of electrical and mechanical background with experience with motors, VFDs, soft starts, and PLCs. IPS Field Service Technicians demonstrate strong repair skills and commitment to providing an Unmatched Customer Experience.
