Job summary

EcoSpark in Toronto, ON is seeking a Lead Environmental Educator to deliver community science programs across the GTA. The role involves co-facilitating sessions, training interns, and coordinating field-based workshops in a hybrid setting.

You will supervise a small team, manage scheduling, engage with teachers and schools, and support program promotion and grants. The 12-month full-time contract includes travel and hands-on environmental education work.

Qualifications

  • University degree or college diploma in environmental science, education, or related field; OCT encouraged.
  • 2-3 years experience teaching, facilitating outdoor engagement, or delivering workshops for youth and community members.
  • Non-profit experience is an asset.
  • Experience with environmental community science monitoring projects.
  • Good identification skills of Southern Ontario flora/fauna or land-based interpretation.
  • Excellent customer service, time management, team building, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
  • Comfort working in various weather conditions year-round.
  • Have or willing to acquire First Aid Certification - Standard First Aid – CPR-C or higher.
  • Valid G Ontario Drivers' Licence and regular access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Ability to pass Vulnerable Sector Checks.

Responsibilities

  • Lead community science sessions for students grades 6-12 and adult audiences.
  • Train and support a team of interns and seasonal facilitators; schedule staffing.
  • Coordinate logistics, bookings, and curriculum alignment with teachers.
  • Assist with equipment organization, inventory and maintenance.
  • Curate participant-entered data for research and conservation.
  • Support program promotion, content development and grant writing.
  • Other duties as assigned.
