Base pay range

99,606.00 / yr - $129,494.00 / yr

Duties

  • You will distribute and balance the workload amongst assigned employees.
  • You will coordinate the team functions of the Maintenance Operation Center (MOC) on board units in refit and in the off-crew building during the pre-refit period, to provide guidance on work control processes, procedures, and issues.
  • You will maintain an up-to-date knowledge of processes, procedures, and priorities and provide guidance based upon this knowledge.
  • You will prepare and process Work Authorization Forms (WAFs) and Technical Work Document (TWD) Record Sheets in accordance with Navy and locally generated instructions.
  • You will review and evaluate proposed tag-outs, work isolation, and hazardous energy control plans developed by the tended unit.
  • You will serve as Repair Activity Representative (RAR) to ensure worker / equipment safety and compliance with Tag-out User Manual (TUM), Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFMM), and local technical directives.
  • You will make work authorization and isolation estimates and report on the status and expected completion of work assignments.
  • You will provide advice and take action as directed and serve as the principal liaison between TRIDENT Refit Facility Bangor (TRFB) and the tended unit in matters of TRFB work isolation and authorization.
  • You will monitor working conditions for acceptability (i.e., safety, ventilation, lighting, etc.).
  • You will provide training to ships' force, members of Work Authorization and Isolation Team (WAIT), TRFB Production shops, and others in the work control process as required.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level (time-in-grade). This must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement is subject to 5 U.S. Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will need to obtain and maintain security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment during work shifts.
  • This position may require travel to CONUS and OCONUS sites, including remote or isolated locations.
  • You must qualify as a Posted Tag Checker, Repair Activity Representative, and Work Control Boat Lead within one year.
  • You will need to qualify as a Radiation Control Worker (J, R, or Q) and Quality Assurance worker.
  • You will work onboard ships, climb ladders and scaffolding, and work in confined spaces.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 level, analyzing and planning maintenance, replacement, or overhaul projects of naval submarines, and executing technical engineering principles using work control functions like tag-out and system isolation.
