Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) is seeking a Lead, Engineering Practice Advisory to support and promote its practice advisory program. This role serves as the first point of contact for inquiries on professional and ethical practice standards, contributing to PEO’s mission of regulating and advancing engineering in Ontario.
Reporting to the Manager, Practice Advisory Services, the Lead, Engineering Practice Advisory will serve as the initial point of contact responding to inquiries into professional practice and ethical practice standards as set out in the Professional Engineers Act, as well as any guidance practice guidelines published by PEO. The role also supports PEO efforts to help to advance communication and widely promote the availability of practice advisory information and services to stakeholders through robust communication initiatives.

Respond to inquiries from engineers, the public, and stakeholders regarding professional practice, ethics, and regulatory obligations.Interpret and explain the Professional Engineers Act, practice guidelines, and engineering standards.Develop educational materials, including FAQs, presentations, and webinars to improve understanding of engineering practice requirements.Monitor common inquiries to identify emerging trends and recommend updates to PEO guidelines.Collaborate with stakeholders, including government agencies, industry associations, and engineering professionals, to provide regulatory clarity.Essential Skills & Qualifications :
Licensed P.Eng. in Ontario with at least 4 years of engineering experienceBachelor's degree in Engineering with several years’ broad experienceBroad Engineering Expertise : Broad understanding of several engineering disciplines and Ontario’s regulatory landscape.Communication : Strong written and verbal skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly.Problem-Solving & Analysis : Ability to research issues, interpret guidelines, and make recommendations.Analytical & Research Skills : Ability to research engineering practice issues, interpret regulations, and contribute to guideline development.Stakeholder Engagement : Experience working with diverse professional and regulatory groups.Project Management : Ability to manage multiple initiatives and meet deadlines.Technical & Legal Knowledge : Familiarity with relevant laws (e.g., Professional Engineers Act, Building Code Act, Employment Standards Act).Technical Proficiency : Experience using software for creating reports, presentations and educational materials.Preferred Skills and Knowledge
Familiarity with matters of practice in a broad range of engineering disciplinesMajority of professional engineering experience gained in Ontario.Direct experience with regulatory bodies, engineering standards development or compliance roles.Experience collaborating with government agencies, industry groups, or professional associations.Ability to provide expert guidance on professional practice and ethical standards.Demonstrated experience researching practice issues, regulations, and contribute to guideline development.Develop and deliver communications, including presentations and webinars.Build relationships with stakeholders (governments, associations, regulatory bodies).Demonstrated ability to analyze data to identify trends and emerging issues, with experience in policy development to support evidence informed decision making.Why Join PEO?
