Job summary

Ulteig is seeking a Lead Systems Integrator to design, develop, and commission advanced electrical control systems, focusing on PLC and HMI integration for renewable energy applications. You will mentor junior engineers and lead large multidisciplinary projects.

The role requires a Bachelor in Electrical Engineering or related field, extensive PLC/HMI experience, fiber optics knowledge, and 25-35% travel across US/Canada. Ontario-based or Canadian work eligibility preferred.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or closely related discipline; equivalent experience considered.
Advanced experience with electrical systems, control systems, and automation concepts.
Advanced PLC programming and HMI design experience; multiple languages (Ladder Logic, FBD, ST).
Experience designing/troubleshooting fiber optic networks.
Strong ability to read electrical schematics and one-line/P&C drawings.
Proven HMI design, development, and commissioning experience.
Knowledge of automation, integration, and system protection principles.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and mentoring skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Experience with multiple PLC platforms (Schneider, SEL RTAC, Allen-Bradley).
Experience with Ignition platform; ModbusTCP or DNP3 familiarity.
Understanding of 3-phase power control and voltage regulation concepts.
Willingness to travel 25-35% and travel across US/Canada.

Responsibilities

Review, create, maintain, and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
Design and integrate PLC and HMI systems for renewable energy automation.
Integrate substation systems including protective relays and RTACs; manage networks.
Lead testing and mentor juniors to troubleshoot control systems.
Perform on-site field commissioning including installation and power-up.
Collaborate with internal/external stakeholders for project success.
Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations (NERC CIP).
Learn and apply new technologies and programming techniques.
Lead large, multidisciplinary projects.
