Job summary

WSP Canada is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to drive design and delivery of mission-critical electrical systems for enterprise, colocation, hyperscale, and AI-ready data centers across Canada.

As Engineer of Record, you will provide technical leadership, oversee across project lifecycles, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure resilient, scalable infrastructure.

Travel across Canada will be required to support project delivery, commissioning, and client engagement.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of progressive electrical engineering experience including mission critical and data center projects.
• Experience as Engineer of Record on complex building projects.
• Deep expertise in critical power: utility services, medium-voltage, switchgear, standby gens, UPS, grounding, monitoring.
• Strong understanding of electrical infrastructure for AI, HPC, and high-density computing.
• Designing scalable electrical architectures for future growth and evolving ops.
• Ability and willingness to travel within Canada to support project delivery.

Your Impact

• Lead the design and delivery of mission critical electrical systems for enterprise, colocation, hyperscale, and AI-ready data center projects.
• Serve as Engineer of Record (EoR), providing technical leadership, accountability, and engineering oversight throughout project lifecycles.
• Drive innovative solutions for critical power infrastructure, resiliency planning, operational continuity, and energy efficiency.
• Guide the integration of utility services, medium- and low-voltage distribution systems, standby generation, UPS systems, grounding, and monitoring systems.
• Collaborate with mechanical, structural, civil, controls, and commissioning specialists to deliver fully integrated mission critical facilities.
• Champion BIM and digital engineering practices that enhance coordination, constructability, project delivery, and long-term operational performance.
• Support clients as a trusted technical advisor, helping them navigate complex infrastructure challenges and future technology requirements.
• Contribute to business growth through technical proposals, client engagement, strategic pursuits, and continuous improvement of engineering standards and best practices.

The Skills That Set You Apart

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation with licensure in Ontario, Alberta, and/or British Columbia.
• 12+ years of progressive electrical engineering experience, including extensive mission critical and data center project experience.
• Demonstrated experience serving as Engineer of Record on complex building and infrastructure projects.
• Deep expertise in critical power systems, including utility services, medium-voltage distribution, switchgear, standby generation, UPS systems, grounding, electrical distribution, and monitoring systems.
• Strong understanding of electrical infrastructure supporting AI, HPC, and high-density computing environments.
• Experience designing scalable electrical architectures that accommodate future growth and evolving operational requirements.
• Ability and willingness to travel within Canada to support project delivery, commissioning, client engagement, and business development activities.

Compensation

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $135,200 - $179,100
MB & ON: $123,300 - $169,800
NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $122,100 - $162,200
