Job summary

WSP seeks a Lead Electrical Engineer in Canada to design and deliver mission critical electrical systems for enterprise, colocation, hyperscale, and AI-ready data centers.

You will act as Engineer of Record, leading technical direction and coordinating with mechanical, civil, controls and commissioning teams to ensure resilient, scalable and future-ready infrastructure. A Canadian P.Eng and 12+ years of experience are highly valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
• 12+ years of progressive electrical engineering experience, including mission critical/data center projects.
• Engineer of Record experience and P.Eng licensure in Canada (Ontario/Alberta/BC) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and delivery of mission critical electrical systems for data center projects.
• Serve as Engineer of Record with technical leadership and accountability.
• Drive innovative power infrastructure, resiliency, and energy efficiency.
• Coordinate utility services, MV distribution, standby generation, UPS, grounding, and monitoring.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated facilities.
• Advance BIM and digital engineering practices for better coordination and delivery.

This is an opportunity to lead the design and delivery of some of the country's most advanced enterprise, colocation, hyperscale, AI, and high-performance computing facilities. As a recognized technical leader and Engineer of Record, you'll work alongside multidisciplinary experts to create resilient, scalable, and future‑ready environments that power tomorrow's technologies.

Your Impact

• Lead the design and delivery of mission critical electrical systems for enterprise, colocation, hyperscale, and AI‑ready data center projects.
• Serve as Engineer of Record (EoR), providing technical leadership, accountability, and engineering oversight throughout project lifecycles.
• Drive innovative solutions for critical power infrastructure, resiliency planning, operational continuity, and energy efficiency.
• Guide the integration of utility services, medium- and low-voltage distribution systems, standby generation, UPS systems, grounding, and monitoring systems.
• Collaborate with mechanical, structural, civil, controls, and commissioning specialists to deliver fully integrated mission critical facilities.
• Champion BIM and digital engineering practices that enhance coordination, constructability, project delivery, and long‑term operational performance.
• Support clients as a trusted technical advisor, helping them navigate complex infrastructure challenges and future technology requirements.
• Contribute to business growth through technical proposals, client engagement, strategic pursuits, and continuous improvement of engineering standards and best practices.

The Skills That Set You Apart

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation with licensure in Ontario, Alberta, and/or British Columbia.
• 12+ years of progressive electrical engineering experience, including extensive mission critical and data center project experience.
• Demonstrated experience serving as Engineer of Record on complex building and infrastructure projects.
• Deep expertise in critical power systems, including utility services, medium-voltage distribution, switchgear, standby generation, UPS systems, grounding, electrical distribution, and monitoring systems.
• Strong understanding of electrical infrastructure supporting AI, HPC, and high-density computing environments.
• Experience designing scalable electrical architectures that accommodate future growth and evolving operational requirements.
• Ability and willingness to travel within Canada to support project delivery, commissioning, client engagement, and business development activities.

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $135,200 - $179,100
MB & ON: $123,300 - $169,800
NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $122,100 - $162,200
