Job summary

Tetranex Solutions, an Alberta-based engineering and procurement firm headquartered in Calgary, seeks a Lead Electrical Designer to lead the development of complete electrical packages for energy sector projects. You will produce and review SLDs, layouts, cable schedules, and panel drawings while guiding project teams to meet schedule milestones.

The ideal candidate holds a degree or diploma in Electrical Design Technology, with extensive office-based experience in industrial design.

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Electrical Design Technology or equivalent.
• Extensive office-based electrical design experience for industrial energy projects.
• Strong knowledge of electrical calculations and basics of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC).

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the development of complete electrical engineering, design, and drafting work packages for energy sector projects.
• Produce and review high-quality industrial electrical deliverables, including SLDs, low/medium voltage schematics, layouts, cable schedules, panel layouts, I/O schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Support FEED activities, including input into design schedules, equipment estimating, MTO generation, and procurement packages.
• Lead the execution and review of industrial design calculations, including equipment and cable sizing/selection, lighting levels, voltage drop, and cable tray fill.
• Drive quality assurance across design packages, ensuring compliance with client standards, drafting conventions, and project schedules while monitoring deliverable progress.
• Manage technical coordination with equipment vendors, review vendor drawings, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.
• Provide mentorship to intermediate and junior designers, fostering constructability, schedule impacts, change management, cost awareness, and environmental considerations.
