Southampton / Hybrid - (2-3 days on-site every 2 weeks)

Are you an experienced Lead Electrical Design Engineer looking to progress within a thriving company? Join a leading EPC contractor who plays a key role in delivering cutting-edge engineering projects across multiple sectors, including Process & Water, Energy, Defence, Oil & Gas, and Nuclear. Due to continued success and exciting new projects, this company is seeking a Lead Electrical Design Engineer to join their expert design team at our Southampton Head Office.
The Role
As a Lead Electrical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of electrical design across a diverse range of engineering projects.
Reporting to the Electrical Design Manager, you will oversee project-specific deliverables, design execution, and team collaboration to ensure high-quality solutions.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Managing project-specific electrical design deliverables
- Developing detailed designs in line with the company's procedures and industry standards
- Interpreting client requirements and ensuring compliance with specifications
- Conducting site surveys, feasibility studies, and optioneering exercises
- Producing procurement specifications and detailed construction drawings
- Overseeing third-party designs and supporting installation & commissioning teams
- Reviewing vendor Functional Design Specifications for compliance
- Completing design calculations and full power system modelling (AMTECH)
- Developing electrical scopes, specifications, cable schedules, and telemetry schedules
- Performing design risk assessments and maintaining project documentation
What We’re Looking For
- A relevant electrical qualification (or equivalent experience)
- Chartered Engineer status (desirable, but not essential)
- Experience in electrical design, power distribution, and control systems
- Proficiency in AMTECH, CAD, and other industry-standard design tools
- Strong leadership, project management, and communication skills
