A leading educational organization is seeking a Lead Education Assistant to guide and support Education Assistants working with students in grades 4-7. The role involves a variety of tasks including monitoring student progress, fostering inclusivity, and facilitating academic assistance. The successful applicant will have 1-2 years of relevant experience and an Education Assistant Certificate. This is a seasonal position running from August 2025 to July 2026, with a probation period and a criminal record check required.

Mandatory Criminal Record Check: GES has a form for the successful applicant to complete.
Position summary: Lead and guide Education Assistants, Under the guidance of FNESC support staff and accountable to the GES Principal.
You will Lead the Education Assistants to work in groups or individually with student(s) grades 4-7.
Educational programs: Saxon Math, Decoding ABC Read well/Reading Mastery Third Quest All of these programs are heavily scripted, all that is involved is following the guidelines for that day’s instruction, which staff are already familiar with.
Work with School staff to provide a wide range of Academic assistance, monitoring behavior, facilitating inclusiveness in the classroom, school environment & Language and Culture including all on the land activities.
You must be flexible to adjust to all student’s needs—you will monitor and facilitate student learning individually or in small groups, document daily progress, support students in learning social behavior or life skills, supervise during recess and lunch plus organize classroom items.
In this variety-filled role, you will be required to arrange, and attend meetings with teachers, parents and therapists – in regard to IEP’s and Report Cards.
Thorough training will be provided in order to implement our reading and math programs with fidelity and Support through First Nations Education Steering Committee is provided.
Qualifications:
• 1-2 years Experience working in a school setting
• Education Assistant Certificate
• The ability to work effectively with a full range of students, including students with special needs.
• Strong communication skills and ability to complete job duties with minimal supervision.
• In accordance with provincial regulations applicants must pass a criminal records check.
