Job summary

The City of Thunder Bay is seeking an Early Childhood Educator II for the Child Care Centre under the supervision of the Program Supervisor. The role focuses on directing and participating in developmentally appropriate activities for children.

Education requirements include a Diploma in Early Childhood Education, knowledge of the Ontario Child Care and Early Years Act, and current PVSC/First Aid/safety certifications.

Qualifications

• Diploma in early childhood education or equivalency.
• Knowledge of the Ontario Child Care and Early Years Act.
• Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
• Demonstrated ability to meet and work with people.
• Certification as an Early Childhood Educator would be an asset.

Responsibilities

• Directs and participates in planned and routine activities.
• Plans and implements developmentally appropriate learning activities.
• Maintains an orderly, fully equipped Centre and requests replacements/repairs as needed.
• Participates in staff and parent meetings, special events and with outside agencies.
• Completes forms required for statistical data and assists in orientation of new staff.
