Umami is on a mission to help our clients grow through effective inbound marketing and digital presence. We are looking for energetic, experienced, and results-driven people with a semi-ridiculous drive to make real contributions to client successes and drive Umami’s mission!

This role is a part-time position with the potential to lead to a full-time position with the Umami team, alongside significant ownership and responsibility.

Umami Marketing is a results-driven inbound marketing agency based out of Vancouver, BC, Canada. We serve small to medium-sized, mainly B2B technology businesses, providing services including marketing strategy development and execution, website development, and project management for large initiatives. We’re passionate about marketing and excited for those who share that passion to join our team, accelerate their careers, and be part of our and our clients’ future successes.

Our clients are mainly throughout North America, and our team is located in various countries worldwide. In this role, you will have the opportunity to telecommute and work flexible hours.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Work closely with clients to understand their business objectives and challenges.
  2. Create inbound marketing strategies and plans that leverage Umami’s team and deliver success.
  3. Lead the execution of strategies from start to finish for multiple clients concurrently.
  4. Create and track against baselines to communicate results and ROI.
  5. Maintain accurate status reports and communicate updates to management.
  6. Adopt and implement project management practices to drive success.
  7. Build relevant, ever-changing buyer personas and client profiles.
  8. Build and manage content/editorial calendars for our clients, including blog posts, whitepapers, ebooks, reports, webinars, infographics, etc.
  9. Increase and generate new leads, including marketing-qualified leads, by converting site traffic through calls-to-action, landing pages, and lead generation content.
  10. Optimize marketing automation and lead nurturing processes through email, content, and social channels.
  11. Perform audits and analysis on tactics—find your measuring mojo.
  12. Establish closed-loop analytics with sales to understand how inbound marketing activity turns into customers, and refine processes accordingly.
  13. Identify and help execute opportunities to grow client accounts and retainers.

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 3-5+ years of inbound marketing and/or agency experience, focusing on organic SEO, content & email marketing, and paid advertising.
  • Proficiency in marketing automation and blogging software to generate traffic, convert visitors into leads, and nurture them into customers.
  • Excellent communicator and creative thinker, eager to seek the truth and use data to inform decisions.
  • A people person with a knack for creating clarity and executing flawlessly amidst diverse stakeholders and priorities.
  • Ability to synthesize information, understand problems quickly, and guide teams effectively. Action-oriented yet thoughtful.
  • Ability to see opportunities others might miss and capitalize on them.
  • Strong knowledge of planning, project, and risk management techniques, with proven organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Account Management: Semi-ridiculous drive to serve clients, create value, and manage relationships despite challenges.
  • Team-building: Manage copywriters, designers, developers, and promoters egolessly to achieve goals and enjoy the process.
  • Attention to detail while maintaining focus on the big picture.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Eagerness to adopt industry best practices and translate them into successful strategies for Umami.
  • Experience creating and measuring campaigns in HubSpot, Pardot, or other marketing automation systems.
  • Experience with conversion optimization, including A/B testing.

Technical Experience:

  • Experience with HubSpot, MailChimp, Pardot, Marketo, and other marketing platforms.
  • Google Analytics and GTM experience—cross-domain tracking, eCommerce tracking, and measurement protocol.
  • WordPress and similar CMS experience.
  • Salesforce and similar CRM experience.
  • HTML/CSS and scripting language experience is a bonus.
