Job summary

Daedal Systems in Toronto seeks a Diagnostic Physicist to advance an industrialized plasma diagnostic platform. You will design, deploy, and operate Thomson Scattering, X-ray Spectroscopy and Vis-UV diagnostics on fusion devices.

You will bring spectroscopic diagnostics from bench-top to deployed systems, lead technical efforts, and collaborate with the VP of Science. Relocation is supported, with up to 20% global travel.

Qualifications

• Experience taking a plasma diagnostic through its full lifecycle.
• Experience translating physics measurement requirements into instrument performance.
• Ability to operate independently as a technical lead.
• Based in Toronto or willing to relocate (relocation support provided).
• Willingness to travel globally up to 20% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Support design, deployment, and operations of Thomson Scattering, X-ray Spectroscopy and Vis-UV spectroscopy diagnostics.
• Later, lead diagnostic development including additional instruments such as ECE, reflectometry, interferometry/polarimetry, B-dot and Hall probes.
• Bring spectroscopic diagnostics from bench-top to industrialized, deployable systems on fusion devices.
• Collaborate with leadership to shape the measurement infrastructure across the industry.
