Job description

Total Life – Voted Best in Business by Inc. Magazine
Competitive Salary + Equity + Path to CTO

About Total Life
We’re Total Life — the nation’s leading teletherapy platform for older adults, on a mission to help people age better, feel better, and live longer. With tens of thousands of sessions delivered and a fast-growing national footprint, we’re transforming mental health for an underserved generation. Recognized by Inc. Magazine as one of the Best in Business, we’re building something bold — and we’re hiring someone equally bold to lead our marketing engine.

The Role

Ready to Build the Future of Aging—and Lead the Tech That Powers It?

Total Life is the nation’s fastest-growing teletherapy platform focused on older adults. We’re transforming mental health access for a generation that’s too often forgotten — and we’re doing it with compassion, innovation, and speed. Inc. Magazine named us Best in Business, and we’re just getting started.

Now we’re hiring a Lead Developer with the talent, drive, and vision to become our Chief Technology Officer.

We want someone with startup grit, product intuition, and a deep love for building — someone who sees a problem, imagines a better solution, and brings it to life. You’ll architect the next version of our platform, lead a growing team of engineers, and bring bold ideas around AI, automation, and user experience to life. You’ll work hand-in-hand with our leadership, product, and clinical teams to scale a category-defining company.

What You’ll Do

  1. Architect, build, and optimize the next generation of Total Life’s core platform
  2. Integrate AI and automation to enhance workflows for clients, therapists, and care teams
  3. Build internal tooling that increases efficiency across operations and support
  4. Manage tech projects from concept to delivery — balancing speed and quality
  5. Collaborate closely with product, design, clinical, and operations teams
  6. Lead, recruit, and mentor a small dev team (with room to scale)
  7. Evaluate and implement third-party tools vs. building in-house solutions
  8. Own technical vision and lay the foundation for future scale as CTO

Who You Are

  1. 6–10+ years of hands-on software development experience
  2. Startup experience — ideally as an early engineer or tech lead
  3. Experience designing and scaling architecture for web-based platforms
  4. Deep interest in AI, automation, and the future of healthcare tech
  5. Proven success managing timelines, deliverables, and cross-functional collaboration
  6. Comfortable wearing multiple hats, context-switching, and figuring it out fast
  7. Excellent communicator and team player — you listen, share, and build trust
  8. Bonus: experience in healthcare, telehealth, or secure data infrastructure

Why Total Life?

  1. You’re not inheriting a system — you’re building the future of one
  2. You’ll work directly with the leadership team
  3. Clear path to CTO — we’re looking for a long-term builder and leader
  4. Mission-driven team solving real human problems
  5. Competitive salary, real equity, and the chance to shape something meaningful
