Role overview:

Bitcoin Well is hiring a bitcoiner to lead our Development team. This freedom maxi will craft and take ownership of the technical initiatives at Bitcoin Well.

The Lead Developer role is ideal for someone who loves building robust, scalable systems, understands Bitcoin technology, and can balance technical strategy while being hands-on and writing code. You will be responsible for crafting the technical roadmap and leading the existing development team to execute it.

You will work directly with the CEO to help craft the roadmap of our non-custodial bitcoin-only platform; designed to help people replace their bank with bitcoin in self-custody.

Our tech stack includes:

• AWS Infrastructure
• PostgreSQL
• Typescript - Using NestJs framework for our APIs
• Angular in TypeScript for the frontend

Who is Bitcoin Well?

Bitcoin Well is a publicly traded Canadian Bitcoin company, established in 2013.

We started with Bitcoin ATMs in 2014. Today we operate over 160 across Canada. In 2022 our focus moved from actively growing our ATM network to building and growing the Bitcoin Portal. The Bitcoin ATM network continues to empower our privacy-focused initiatives on the Bitcoin Portal in Canada.

The Bitcoin Portal is a bitcoin-only platform that empowers people to replace their bank account with bitcoin in self-custody. Our non-custodial platform allows Canadians to buy and sell bitcoin while also using bitcoin to pay their bills and send money to friends; all with their personal bitcoin wallets.

We expanded the Bitcoin Portal to all 50 states in the USA in 2024 and are now building out these same services in the USA. One day, the entire world will be able to replace their bank with Bitcoin Well.

What are our expectations of the role?

• Lead the Team: Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the existing development team, fostering their skills and ensuring collaboration and efficiency.

• Refine & Execute Technical Strategy: Develop and implement a technical roadmap that aligns our platform goals, focusing on scalability, security, and user experience.

• Guard & Modernize the Codebase: Ensure code quality, maintainability, and adherence to best practices. Lead efforts to modernize our infrastructure by adopting current frameworks, tools, and architecture where appropriate. Oversee the implementation of consistent coding standards and documentation.

• Drive Technical Innovation:

1. Enhance the Bitcoin Portal’s functionality, improving performance and user adoption.
2. Develop features for Bitcoin Well Infinite, our white-glove service for large transactions.
3. Maintain and optimize the backend infrastructure supporting the Bitcoin ATM network.

• Manage Key Development Functions:

1. Oversee system architecture design and implementation.
2. Lead integration with bitcoin technologies and third-party APIs.
3. Manage CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks, and deployment processes.
4. Monitor system performance and security, implementing improvements as needed.
5. Iterate quickly, working with fast feedback loops, testing new features, and adjusting based on real-time data.
