Job summary
Exchanger Industries Limited in Calgary seeks a Manager, Design & Drafting to lead two Calgary locations and two product lines: shell-and-tube and air-cooled exchangers. You will coach and develop junior designers, manage department capacity and project priorities, and ensure fabrication documentation meets quality standards.
You will drive drafting standards, strengthen design/production collaboration, and support the ongoing transition from Autodesk Inventor to SolidWorks within a PDM workflow.
Qualifications
- Experience leading a technical team in manufacturing or engineering.
- Proven ability to coach designers and drafters across multiple levels.
- Strong knowledge of 3D modelling, 2D detailing, and fabrication drawings.
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of designers and drafters across two Calgary locations.
- Oversee quality and buildability of drawings, models, and packages.
- Manage scheduling, capacity planning, and resources for concurrent projects.
- Establish and improve drafting standards, templates, and libraries.
- Support CAD platform migration from Inventor to SolidWorks in a PDM workflow.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and development planning.
- Collaborate with engineering, management, procurement, and production.
- Foster a culture of trust, accountability, and continuous improvement.
