Position Summary (Purpose of job):

The Data Scientist – Level 5 serves as a strategic leader in advancing McKesson's data science capabilities to solve complex business and IT challenges. This position is responsible for designing, developing, and deploying advanced predictive analytics and machine learning models that enable data-driven decision-making across the enterprise. Operating within a regulated environment, the role ensures compliance while driving innovation and measurable impact.

This role directs the integration of large, varied datasets, architects specialized databases, and oversees computing environments for data science projects. The Data Scientist collaborates with engineering, service teams, and business stakeholders to align solutions with enterprise priorities. Additionally, the position provides technical guidance, mentorship, and thought leadership to promote best practices and foster data literacy across the organization.

Minimum Job Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities):

Business Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience; advanced degree strongly preferred.
• Typically requires 10+ years of professional experience in designing and deploying enterprise-scale data science solutions. Less experience is accepted with relevant Master’s or Doctorate qualifications.
• Experience in leading teams, mentoring talent, and providing technical guidance for high-impact projects.
