Job summary

Auxo | Growth Partner is seeking a Lead Data Scientist for an early-stage AI company building enterprise automation tools for finance, operations, and back-office teams. This is a hands-on technical leadership role with ownership of production agentic AI systems.

You will design and deploy LLM-based applications, develop multi-step workflows with RAG and tool calling, and mentor teammates while collaborating with product and engineering on data pipelines and architecture.

Qualifications

• Strong background in data science, ML, or applied AI.
• Hands-on experience building and deploying production LLM or agentic AI apps.
• Experience with RAG, AI agents, tool or function calling, and multi-step orchestration.
• Strong Python skills in production codebases.
• Solid foundation in ML, experimentation, and model evaluation.

Responsibilities

Location: Canada, Remote (Preferably based in Montreal, Toronto, or Ottawa)

Salary: $140,000 to $160,000

Auxo is hiring a Lead Data Scientist for an early-stage AI company building enterprise automation tools for finance, operations, and back-office teams.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role. You will own the development of production agentic AI systems that interpret business processes, work across enterprise tools, and automate complex workflows. You will help set the technical direction while remaining deeply involved in building, testing, and deploying the product.

• Recent hands-on experience building and deploying production LLM or agentic AI applications.
• Experience with RAG, AI agents, tool or function calling, and multi-step orchestration.
• Strong Python skills and experience working within production codebases.
• Solid foundation in machine learning, experimentation, and model evaluation.
• Experience monitoring and improving AI or ML systems in production.
• Comfortable taking ownership in an ambiguous, early-stage environment.
• Able to lead technical projects and communicate effectively across product, engineering, and leadership.
• Experience with LangGraph, LangChain, LlamaIndex, or similar frameworks.
• Experience with vector databases, document processing, and retrieval systems.
• Familiarity with LLM observability and evaluation tools.
• Experience with Docker, cloud infrastructure, and CI/CD.
• Background in enterprise automation, workflow software, or B2B SaaS.
