Job summary

District School Board Ontario North East is seeking an Elementary Head Custodian at Smooth Rock Falls Public School. The role leads custodial staff, oversees cleaning operations, and ensures a safe, healthy school environment. Start date: As soon as possible. Closing date: 2026-09-15 4:00 pm EST.

1.0 FTE, 40 hours weekly, 7:00am–3:00pm. Salary is per CUPE agreement at $29.02/hour. Applicants must have a high school diploma, a current MHMIS certificate, and computer/data-entry skills.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Current, Board-approved MHMIS certificate required.
• Computer skills (email, data entry, online work orders) preferred.
• Experience in custodial work is preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and operating instructions.
• Ability to perform medium to heavy physical labor.

Responsibilities

• Direct and supervise custodial staff to maintain cleanliness in the facility.
• Organize and implement work schedules; adjust schedules for emergencies.
• Maintain and write reports; plan project work.
• Train custodial staff on WHMIS and safety requirements.
• Input staff absences using the Smartfind system and manage replacements.
• Perform inspections and maintain digital logs of custodial activities.
• Requisition materials, supplies, and equipment as needed.
