Job Description

ARAMARK Remote Workplace Services is hiring for 1st Cooks at a remote lodge near Fort McMurray, AB. The 1st Cook is responsible for cooking and preparing food using standard recipes and production guidelines while adhering to food safety, handling, and sanitation procedures. The role involves safely handling knives and kitchen equipment such as grills, fryers, ovens, and broilers. The individual will ensure proper and timely food preparation, supervise kitchen staff, and delegate responsibilities.

The specific responsibilities may vary by location based on client requirements and business needs.

Transportation is provided from Edmonton, AB to the site. All candidates considered for hire must pass a pre-employment drug & alcohol test and criminal background check.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Schedule and assign daily work activities to staff, supervise task completion.
  2. Train staff on job duties, food safety, sanitation, and cooking methods.
  3. Cook and prepare food following production guidelines and standardized recipes.
  4. Set up workstation with ingredients and equipment.
  5. Prepare ingredients by measuring, weighing, chopping, and peeling.
  6. Safely use all food utensils and equipment.
  7. Cook using various methods such as baking, roasting, broiling, steaming.
  8. Arrange, garnish, and portion food according to guidelines.
  9. Store food properly following safety policies.
  10. Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and utensils.
  11. Maintain excellent customer service and a positive attitude.
  12. Follow safety policies, including food safety and sanitation.
  13. Ensure security of company assets.
  14. Produce and maintain work schedules and production records.

Qualifications

  1. Previous supervisory experience in a related role is preferred.
  2. Experience as a cook or related role is required.
  3. Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  4. Knowledge of food preparation, cooking methods, and food safety regulations.
  5. Food safety certification is required.
  6. Basic math and counting skills.
  7. Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.

This role may involve physical demands such as lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, extended walking, and standing. Uniforms and PPE may be required.
