Reporting to the Director, Contracts and Procurement, Projects, the Lead will play a key role in the effective operation and continuous improvement of the Contracts and Procurement function for Teck's major capital projects.

The responsibilities include developing and maintaining management systems, ensuring operational excellence, supporting training and onboarding, and fostering team engagement and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  1. Be a safety leader, adhering to safety and environmental rules.
  2. Promote safety and environmental protection as core values.
  3. Develop and improve Contracts and Procurement management systems and standards.
  4. Champion operational excellence and process efficiency.
  5. Support implementation and troubleshooting of established processes.
  6. Act as the primary C&P representative to the Continuous Improvement team.
  7. Serve as a trusted source of information on contracts and procurement practices.
  8. Support the department’s administration and personnel development.
  9. Maintain and update the Contracts and Procurement Procedures Manual.
  10. Facilitate lessons learned integration and standards improvement.
  11. Utilize project information systems effectively.
  12. Mentor project teams on the use of project procedures.
  13. Advise on audits and reviews to ensure standards compliance.
  14. Implement training and onboarding programs for new personnel.
  15. Maintain up-to-date training records and materials.
  16. Organize team-building and educational initiatives.
  17. Support departmental budgeting and expenditure management.

Qualifications

  1. 8+ years in contracts and procurement roles within project delivery organizations.
  2. 5+ years in leadership roles focusing on systems management, training, and quality assurance.
  3. Bachelor’s degree preferred; MBA desirable.
  4. Strong leadership, team engagement, and operational excellence skills.
  5. Proven ability to foster integration, morale, and community within diverse teams.
  6. Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills.
  7. Expertise in project management systems and tools such as Oracle Unifier, UMT 360, Aconex, SharePoint, and Microsoft D365.
  8. Experience in conducting audits, reviews, and troubleshooting procedural inefficiencies.
  9. Knowledge of integration strategies and fostering collaboration.
  10. Background in onboarding, career development, and training programs.
  11. Field or operational experience with management systems is an asset.
  12. Advanced conceptual thinking and process optimization skills.
  13. Proficient in English; Spanish proficiency is an asset.
