WSP is seeking a Senior or Lead Contaminated Sites Engineer/Geoscientist to join our Terrace, BC or Whitehorse, Yukon team. You will guide complex environmental initiatives across northern and western Canada, building trusted client relationships and contributing to strategic growth.

In this role, you will guide complex environmental and contaminated sites initiatives across northern and western Canada. Your work will help build trusted client relationships in local communities, contribute to strategic thinking, and support local business growth.

You should have ten or more years of technical experience primarily in contaminated sites investigation and remediation, including Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, Detailed Site Investigations, remedial options analyses, and in-situ and ex-situ remediation projects, combined with project coordination and management experience.

Your Impact

  • Lead multidisciplinary contaminated sites assessment and remediation programs , including Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, Detailed Site Investigations, remedial options analyses, and in-situ and ex-situ remediation projects supporting infrastructure, community development, mining, and northern programs.

  • Apply advanced contaminated sites expertise to develop conceptual site models, guide delineation strategies, evaluate remedial options, and support remediation programs at a Lead level.

  • Direct and review field programs in northern and remote environments.

  • Produce clear, defensible technical reports that support regulatory submissions and key client decisions.

  • Collaborate with engineering, ecology, mining, and Indigenous engagement teams to deliver integrated environmental solutions.

  • Mentor junior and intermediate staff in environmental methodologies, contaminated sites practice, and regulatory requirements.

  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with public and private sector clients and Indigenous partners through collaborative project delivery.

The Skills That Set You Apart

  • Significant hands-on experience leading contaminated sites projects, including Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, Detailed Site Investigations, remedial options analyses, and in-situ and ex-situ remediation programs.

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Environmental, Geological, or Civil Engineering, Geoscience, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.

  • Professional registration (P.Eng. or P.Geo.), or eligibility for registration, in British Columbia and/or Yukon.

  • 10+ years of consulting experience in northern, remote, Indigenous, or industrial environments involving complex multi-media contamination issues.

  • Strong project management capabilities, including financial oversight, scope management, client engagement, and communication skills.

  • Demonstrated expertise in contaminated sites characterization, conceptual site model development, remedial options analysis, remediation technologies, technical specification development, and environmental regulatory requirements across BC, Yukon, and western/northern Canada.

  • Experience planning and overseeing field programs in remote or northern regions.

  • Collaborative mindset, strong commitment to safety, and proven problem-solving skills in complex environmental settings.

  • Positive, solutions-focused attitude with a willingness to both learn and share knowledge.

  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.

  • Valid driver's license, clean driver's abstract, and willingness to travel as required.

Compensation

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $122,900 – $162,800

MB & ON: $112,100 – $154,400

NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $111,000 – $147,400
