WSP Canada seeks a Principal or Senior Principal Contaminated Sites Engineer/Geoscientist for BC/Yukon with Terrace opportunities. You will lead complex investigations and remediation projects, informed by 15+ years in contaminated sites and strong regulatory knowledge, collaborating across multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Recognized expertise in contaminated sites investigation and characterization, conceptual site model development, remedial options analysis, and remediation planning across BC, Yukon and western Canada.
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Environmental, Geological, Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• P.Eng. or P.Geo. registration in BC and/or Yukon or eligibility.
• 15+ years in northern/remote/industrial settings with multi-media contamination experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead contaminated site assessment and remediation programs (Phase I/II, DSIs, remedial options).
• Oversee soil, groundwater, sediment, and vapour investigations with high-quality sampling.
• Develop conceptual site models and remedial designs for industrial/mining sites.
• Advise clients and regulators on regulatory pathways and risk-based decision making.
• Direct advanced investigations and remediation programs in northern environments.
• Prepare senior technical reports for infrastructure and land development projects.

In this role, you'll lead complex environmental and contaminated sites initiatives that protect communities, inform major infrastructure projects, and support resilient land and water systems. You should have 15 or more years of experience primarily in contaminated sites investigation and remediation, combined with project management experience.

Your Impact

• Lead complex contaminated site assessment and remediation programs, including Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments, Detailed Site Investigations, remedial options analyses, and implementation of in-situ and ex-situ remediation strategies.
• Oversee soil, groundwater, sediment, and vapour investigations, ensuring high-quality sampling, defensible datasets, and regulatory alignment.
• Develop and refine conceptual site models, remediation options analyses, remedial designs, technical specifications, and long-term monitoring strategies for industrial, mining, petroleum, and remote northern sites.
• Advise clients, regulators, Indigenous governments, and project partners on contaminated sites regulatory pathways, risk-based decision-making, and site management frameworks.
• Design and direct advanced contaminated sites investigations and remediation programs in northern and remote environments.
• Prepare and provide senior technical review of clear, data-driven reports that support major infrastructure, remediation, and land development projects.
• Mentor, guide, and empower project teams to deliver best-in-class environmental and contaminated sites solutions.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, support business development initiatives, identify growth opportunities, and contribute to strategic account development.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver sustainable and climate-resilient environmental solutions.

The Skills That Set You Apart

• Recognized expertise in contaminated sites investigation and characterization, conceptual site model development, remedial options analysis, planning and implementation of in-situ and ex-situ remediation technologies, preparation of technical specifications, and environmental regulatory requirements across BC, Yukon, and western/northern Canada.
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Environmental, Geological, or Civil Engineering (or a related discipline with an environmental focus), Geoscience, or a related discipline.
• Professional registration (P.Eng. or P.Geo.), or eligibility for registration, in British Columbia and/or Yukon.
• Significant experience (15+ years) working in northern, remote, Indigenous, or industrial settings involving complex multi-media contamination issues, including a strong understanding and application of contaminated sites investigation methods and environmental legislation in BC and/or Yukon.
• Demonstrated experience developing remedial options analyses and leading implementation of in-situ and ex-situ remediation programs.
• Strong project management capabilities, including scope and financial oversight, client relationship management, proposal development, and exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Established track record of developing and maintaining client relationships, leading key accounts, securing repeat work, and translating client challenges into long-term business opportunities.
• Leadership experience overseeing field programs, technical teams, regulatory submissions, stakeholder engagement, and multidisciplinary project delivery.
• CSAP (Contaminated Sites Approved Professional) designation is considered an asset but is not required.
• Valid driver's license, clean driver's abstract, and willingness to travel as required.

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $177,000 - $234,400

MB & ON: $161,500 - $222,300

NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $159,900 - $212,300
