JOB DESCRIPTION

Apex is seeking a dynamic Lead Consultant with strong consultative skills to act as a Lead Program Manager, Internal Practice Consultant within our Consulting Practice as part of our Apex Systems Solutions Delivery Organization. This role is best suited for someone with a deep understanding of organizational operating models, various project management frameworks and best practices, to support all elements of the enterprise, including tools, processes and people perspectives. An ideal candidate shows a passion for mentoring, communicates clearly, and leverages tact in dealing with all levels of personnel while creating a compelling vision of the end game. This role will lead engagements, influencing people, leaders and management that directly interface with and oversee transformations. The Lead Consultant will also provide subject matter expertise and will help to mentor Apex Systems’ internal Consultants in their career growth and development. This role will be responsible for meeting client deliverables and internal consulting practice contributions and leadership. This role is a hybrid and requires at least 3 days onsite.

RESPONSIBLITIES:

  • Establish strong relationships with clients, industry professionals, and technical communities. Represent Apex Systems as leaders at industry and professional events, while developing and maintaining a robust internal and external customer relationship.
  • Exhibit technical knowledge, skills, and effective professional consulting abilities. Foster trust and respect among internal and external stakeholders and model collaborative teamwork.
  • Evaluate the culture and structure of the organization. Establish PMO processes to standardize project management practices and ensure consistency across projects. Collaborate with client staff to establish a long-term vision and guiding principles, identify obstacles and impacts of initiatives, and create strategies to ensure successful implementation.
  • Work closely with clients, internal team members, and executive stakeholders to align project goals and expectations.
  • Develop an engagement roadmap and related reporting for client delivery. Oversee and ensure all deliverables are met in alignment with the Statement of Work with a focus on exceptional delivery. Develop and track metrics to evaluate the performance of the project, including OKRs, KPIs and project success metrics. Create workflows, dashboards, and
  • reports to provide the team with meaningful operational and performance metrics. Create and present bi-weekly and quarterly project status reports for clients.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, manage resources effectively, and adhere to budgetary requirements. Define and implement an intake process to ensure efficient handling of project requests and prioritization. Ensure project deadlines are met and adapt the project roadmap as needed to stay on track.
  • Lead and oversee daily work priorities, track metrics, and communicate progress to the team and stakeholders. Lead and mentor project managers and others fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment to achieve project goals and organizational objectives.
  • Oversee delivery planning, manage project risks, prepare documentation, and support team development by eliminating obstacles and utilizing organizational resources to enhance project capacity.
  • Content Creation: Develop project plans and job aids with a resourceful approach to content creation, making connections, filling in gaps, and reading between the lines. Create and edit PowerPoint presentations to provide a visually engaging experience for the audience.
  • Demonstrate professional consulting skills, leadership abilities, and executive-level communication and presentation skills. Show adaptability and flexibility to meet business needs.
  • Continually seek creative solutions and find new ways to add value. Understand client needs, proactively provide solutions, and approach challenges with a consultative, solution-focused mindset.
  • Stay attuned to the future needs of the client and work with internal resources to identify opportunities. Participate in sales pursuits by providing strategic guidance, estimates, scoping and other pre-sales activities. Liaise between the product teams, business teams and IT teams to ensure delivery expectations are met.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • 6+ years of relevant product and program management experience in a waterfall environment. 3+ years of Agile project management experience. Familiar with all project methodologies, including Agile, Waterfall and hybrid with ability to adapt to the project needs.
  • Financial Services, Banking, Retirement and/or Investment domain knowledge preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field (applicable education and experience may be substituted) Master’s Degree a plus.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM), Program Management Professional (PgMP), Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or other relevant certifications preferred
  • Proficiency in project management tools such as JIRA, Azure DevOps, ServiceNow, MS Project, Clarity, Basecamp, Trello, etc. Knowledge in Conquest Planning preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage cross-functional teams. Experience supervising and mentoring team members. Exceptional leadership, time management and organizational skills
  • Microsoft Suite: Experience in the Microsoft Suite including Outlook, MS Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams
  • Well-versed in virtual coaching techniques and collaboration tools. Excellent creative, conceptual, storytelling, and analytic thinking skills. Strong writing, communication, and presentation abilities.
  • Must be a team player with strong interpersonal skills, able to work in a team setting and independently.
