Job summary

Netflix Animation Studios Canada ULC in Vancouver is seeking a seasoned Compositor to bring our animated features to life, merging lighting, renders, and effects to match the director's vision. You will collaborate with lighting and production design, mentor junior teammates, design tools and pipelines, and thrive under deadlines while maintaining color accuracy and creative integrity.

You will contribute to look development, work with the team to realize shot vision, and help scale look setups

Qualifications

• 3+ years of compositing experience in animated or live-action VFX feature films or high‑end series.
• Expertise in look development for shows, sequences, and specific shots and / or FX.
• Strong knowledge and production experience using Nuke.
• Strong understanding of CG elements, including AOVs, render layers, and other components.
• Deep understanding of colour theory and skill in applying it to create visually striking images.
• Competence in designing and troubleshooting complex tools and workflows.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, capable of balancing quick turnarounds with long-term quality.

Responsibilities

• Develop key looks by collaborating with the Lighting Department and Production Designer while maintaining continuity across sequences.
• Work with the Compositing Supervisor to realize the vision of the shots.
• Create look setups independently that can be scaled to several shots.
• Design and develop innovative tools, pipelines, and techniques to enhance workflows.
• Mentor junior and mid-level compositors and share knowledge.
• Communicate professionally and maintain confidentiality across the team.
• Stay committed to learning and improving knowledge in filmmaking and production processes.
