Global Functions Technology (GFT) is part of RBC’s Technology and Operations division. GFT collaborates with partners across the company to deliver innovative IT solutions. Our clients include Risk, Finance, HR, CAO, Audit, Legal, Compliance, Financial Crime, Capital Markets, Personal and Commercial Banking, and Wealth Management. We also develop digital tools and platforms to enhance collaboration.

Our team focuses on designing, developing, and deploying capabilities that enable the end-to-end delivery of the Enterprise ESG framework. The Sr Cloud Full Stack Engineer, Climate Data & Strategy, is responsible for leading development of applications for large-scale data processing and analysis, working with stakeholders to design technology solutions.

What will you do?

  1. Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and infrastructure to support analytical and operational needs.
  2. Contribute to data pipeline architecture following a micro-service format, deployable to on-premise and Cloud.
  3. Collaborate with stakeholders including data scientists, software engineers, and domain experts to understand data requirements and deliver solutions.
  4. Ensure data quality, integrity, and reliability throughout the data lifecycle.
  5. Support the integration of analytics and machine learning models into production systems, focusing on data availability and performance.
  6. Optimize database performance and schema design for large-scale data sets.
  7. Mentor team members and resolve design and implementation challenges.
  8. Participate hands-on in design and implementation, reviewing and approving project changes.

What do you need to succeed?

Must Have

  1. 8+ years of experience in programming and application development; 1+ year in a team lead role with full project ownership.
  2. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and data services.
  3. Expertise in multiple programming languages/frameworks such as Hadoop, Apache Spark, Python, Scala, Hive.
  4. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
  5. Strong team leadership, communication, and presentation skills; ability to understand stakeholder needs.
  6. Expertise in DevOps practices and CI/CD tools.
  7. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills; ability to work collaboratively.
  8. Ability to translate business requirements into technology solutions; self-motivated with minimal supervision.

Nice to Have

  1. Knowledge of data governance and security practices.
  2. Experience in frontend/backend engineering, test-driven development, microservices, and architecture design.
  3. Prior experience in the Financial Industry, supporting risk analytics and regulatory frameworks.
