Parsons has been a leader in the planning, design, and delivery of transportation infrastructure across the world for more than 75 years. Our Canadian team is looking for an experienced Lead Civil Engineering Technologist to add to our growing presence in the Maritimes. Our team is focused on helping our municipal and provincial clients expand and improve their transportation systems through innovative and transformative solutions. In this role you will be a member of the design team for transportation engineering layouts and design drawings, municipal servicing, grading and drainage design, utilizing theoretical and practical design knowledge. This position is located in our Halifax office (and/or remotely anywhere in Nova Scotia).
Experience with Civil 3D and/or MicroStation is essential. Experience with other AutoDesk and Bentley products (OpenRoads Designer, ProjectWise) will be considered an asset.
Responsibilities:
Interprets and ensures conformance to applicable standards and codes, as well as company policies and procedures.
Understands and utilizes more advanced software to complete assignments.
Produce conceptual and detailed drawings of diverse municipal infrastructure and demonstrate basic experience in the following areas: municipal roads, underground linear infrastructure included water facilities, sanitary sewers, storm/water drainage systems, grading and drainage, culverts, new land/site developments and upgrading of existing facilities.
Works closely with Engineers and other disciplines to ensure coordinated design systems.
Ensures compliance with required design safety factors, tolerances, and specifications.
Reviews supplier data and supplier/manufacturer drawings, as required.
Checks orthographic (2D) and/or isometric (3D) drawings prepared by others.
Performs checking procedures as appropriate to the discipline and assigned by immediate supervisor.
Performs design and quantity calculations.
Utilizes AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation or OpenRoads to perform various design work.
Participates in discussions with technical and engineering personnel, reviewing development issues reported to assist in resolving issues.
Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Qualifications:
Associate's Degree in Engineering Technology or related field (or equivalent related training/certification if applicable) and typically 5+ years experience.
Experience working on HRM and NSPW projects is considered an asset.
