Job Title: Lead Cinema Technician Operator

Position

Lead Cinema Technician Operator

Summary

The Lead Cinema Technician Operator is responsible for creating Digital Cinema Packages (DCPs). This includes documenting steps via our database and email communication, handling elements such as images, sound, and subtitles from various formats, and conforming them for production when necessary. Operators use mastering stations like DVS Clipster, Wailua, and Doremi to produce DCPs in MXF Interop and SMPTE formats. They also ensure secure data transfer, maintain the Storage Area Network, archive content, and follow security protocols to guarantee 100% accuracy in data delivery.

The role involves creating DCPs, IMP, ProRes master files, and downstream deliverables such as subtitles, DVDs, and Blu-ray discs. Content Services supports the Mastering department by verifying and conforming source materials to meet specifications for Digital Cinema creation.

Candidates should have a good understanding of technical aspects of deliverables and standards, be adaptable to evolving client needs, and proficient with industry-standard and custom software. A motivated team player with flexibility for evening and weekend work is preferred.

Main Job Duties
  1. Create Digital Cinema Packages (DCP)
  2. Gather and convert various audio, video, and subtitle formats
  3. Maintain high quality standards for smooth transition to QC
  4. Keep accurate information in the database
  5. Communicate production issues to relevant teams
  6. Prepare and conform source materials, including color conversion
  7. Create outputs in various media formats
  8. Provide high-quality service and reporting to clients
  9. Coordinate with internal departments
  10. Handle paperwork, labeling, and data management
  11. Manage SAN cleanup and archiving
  12. Follow security protocols
  13. Ensure 100% accuracy in data deliveries
Qualifications
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Linux, Mac OS, Windows, XML
  • Knowledge of audio/video formats (Tiff, Jpeg2000, QT, Wave)
  • Understanding of Digital Cinema workflows and standards
  • Experience with mastering tools like DVS Clipster, Doremi, Wailua
  • Ability to provide technical support and respond to inquiries
Experience and Education

2-3 years in Post Production environment preferred. Bachelor's Degree or equivalent professional experience required.
