Job summary

Home Instead is seeking a Lead Caregiver to inspire and guide our team of caregivers, helping older adults and their families navigate aging with dignity and care.

You will coach caregivers, support onboarding, coordinate with clients and families, and ensure high-quality care while maintaining accurate documentation and proactive problem-solving. This role offers a full-time schedule with a Monday–Friday 40-hour week and occasional weekend coverage.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' experience as a PSW.
• Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
• Experience mentoring or coaching caregivers.
• Proficient in household management and meal preparation.

Responsibilities

• Coach and provide QA to caregivers across territory.
• Support onboarding, orientation, and client introductions.
• Maintain clear communication with caregivers, clients, families, and office teams.
• Document accurately and keep HR updated on caregiver performance.
• Step in as PSW during emergencies.
• Contribute ideas for training and development.

What You’ll Do:

• Travel across our territory to coach and provide quality assurance to caregivers.
• Support new caregiver onboarding, orientation, and client introductions.
• Communicate clearly with caregivers, clients, families, and office teams.
• Identify challenges before they become problems and recommend solutions.
• Maintain accurate documentation and keep HR updated on caregiver performance.
• Step in as a PSW in emergency situations when needed.
• Contribute ideas for training and development opportunities for our team.

What We’re Looking For:

• More than 2 years' experience as a PSW.
• Must understand the importance of household management and meal preparation & cooking as part of providing quality senior care.
• Previous experience involving mentoring and coaching.
• Valid driver’s license, full-time access to a reliable car, and auto insurance.
• Strong communication, patience, and mentoring skills.
• Professionalism, discretion, and excellent judgment.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize effectively.
• Computer-savvy with a willingness to learn new systems.
• Team-oriented mindset and ability to build positive relationships.

Work Schedule:

• Monday to Friday, 40 hours/week with flexible start and end times.
• Occasional weekends as needed.

Education

• Personal Support Worker Certificate OR
• International nursing experience, combined with more than 2 years of hands-on, professional senior care experience

License/Certifications

• Current First Aid & CPR certification.
• Immunization Record & TB Testing
• Vulnerable Sector Police Check
• Dementia care training and experience is a strong asset.
• Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA) training is an asset.
• Food Handler certificate is an asset.

Rate of Pay:

$23.00 per hour
